Someone here flicked a switch on Tuesday and, all of a sudden, shops are open, the roads are busier, streets are full and Jacquie has to hustle to get a seat on the tram to the University in the morning. Summer is, it seems, over and schools are back, businesses are open and life has resumed its normal rhythm.

and after (what i suspect was) a cryptosporidium-induced week of dry toast and yogurt, the digestive system was finally up for some more adveturous food! Taking advantage of the opening of some of the places we had been tracking, we lashed out!

As we noticed a couple of years ago, much French food is pretty average, but when they do it well, they do it really well!
We are just finishing our last weekend here before we head south for a week in Italy, to celebrate a milestone of a good friend. We refelected on the stunning cycling we have been able to do here - in a city and surrounds that are so well set up for cycling. Canal paths out of town,

stunning roads

and off-road gravel tracks

and works of art to keep you entertained

We spent Saturday touring south through the vineyards on this route, created by joining a few we had alerady enjoyed
and went exploring north on Sunday to discover more cycling delights
One more week of uni, a Friday of hire car wrangling then a crica 12 hour drive Sunday to Umbria all lie ahead of us.
Stay well!
